Twitter Adds Ethereum Option To Tipping Feature

Twitter has had the “Tip Jar” feature for a while now and it has been a smooth sail so far. Bitcoin used to be the only crypto currency available for tipping on this feature. But that’s now changing. Twitter has added an ethereum payment method to its Tip Jar function this week. It will enable users to tip content creators with more than one currency.

Twitter has added Ethereum payments to its “Tip Jar” service. The feature that allows users to ‘tip’ content creators on the app was launched late last year and now features on the profiles of millions of Twitter accounts. It initially included Venmo and GoFundMe payment options. Ex-CEO Jack Dorsey’s longtime favorite, Bitcoin was the sole crypto that made the list.

The social media site announced Wednesday that more payment options were being added to its feature. These included Paga’s Barter App, Flutterwave’s Paga and Paytm. Additionally, the possibility to create an Ethereum account to get tips through the app.

The latest addition is part of Twitter’s move to expand payment options for the features. “We’re continuing to expand ways to get paid on Twitter which includes more choices for creators and fans who want to use crypto,” Twitter’s lead product manager of creator monetization Johnny Winston, told CoinDesk in a statement.

While users can now add Ethereum addresses into their profiles, the social media company revealed that Ethereum Name Service(ENS) domain names will not be supported. Users can however tip their favourite accounts using ERC-20 tokens in addition to ETH.
