Pro marijuana-party cyber squat in Katter web domains | The North West Star

news, local-news,

Punters paying a visit to what should be pro-Katter websites will be highly surprised at their content. The North West Star has smoked out two domain names robbiekatter.com and bobkatter.com which link not to any Katter’s Australian Party page but instead to a little known pro-marijuana group called AustralianParty.com. We’re not sure who the dope is here but the australianparty.com’s slogan is “Freedom Rights Peace” and while its policies include sensible ones that the Katters might support like improving health care and education, the KAP would probably take a dimmer view of slightly odder ones like selling our resources in Bitcoin and changing the date of Australia Day to Melbourne Cup day. The joint websites do not call outright for the legalisation of marijuana but they do want to “make herbal hemp products legal”. Bob Katter has not spoken much about legalising marijuana though his views can guessed from a 2021 remark when he said he “sick of dealing with half-witted, Lilypad Lefties, with stars in their eyes and marijuana in their head and lungs,” referring to the Queensland Government’s crocodile policy. In 2020 he also said “I didn’t know that marijuana was legal in Canberra and I can now understand why the country has gone to pot.” The Katters are not alone in having their squatting rights infringed, the same group also has also weeded out palaszczuk.com, primeministerofaustralia.com and most puzzlingly derrynhinch.com.
