I received an email this morning from NamesCon announcing that an in-person event is happening at the end of this Summer. NamesCon Global 2022 will be held in Austin, Texas from August 31 through September 3 at the Omni Austin Hotel Downtown. It marks the first in-person domain industry conference since NamesCon Global in January of 2020.
Early bird tickets for the conference are now on sale via Eventbrite for $349 plus taxes and fees. There are apparently only 200 Early Bird tickets available at that price. The on-site ticket fee will be $999 plus fees, although NamesCon tends to run special offers every now and again.
People who are concerned about traveling because of Covid-19 should make note of this FAQ before purchasing a ticket:
“Event Passes are non-refundable under any circumstances. If you have purchased a ticket and cannot attend, you may transfer your ticket to another individual or to an upcoming NamesCon event. The only exception is in the event of a pandemic-related restriction or lockdown in Austin or the attendee’s point of departure.”
I do not see anything about the event being livestreamed for people who do not wish to attend in person. If that is appealing, your best bet is to reach out to NamesCon organizers directly to see if it is an option.
Ordinarily, I would be excited to attend this in-person event, but I am afraid I won’t be able to be there. Not only is the last week in August back to school week for my kids, but I will just have returned from a vacation, and my family will be traveling over Labor Day weekend (September 3 – 5). A friend texted me before I read the NamesCon email to mention the same issue about Labor Day weekend.
It’s nice to see NamesCon Global returning, but I wish organizers chose another weekend.
