MMX makes progress on sale to GoDaddy – Domain Name Wire

ICANN approval is progressing.

MMX (aka Minds + Machines) reported today that it’s making progress on its proposed asset sale to GoDaddy (NYSE: GDDY).

In April, the company announced it was selling its 28 top level domain names to GoDaddy for $120 million. (One of those domains, .country, was sold in Frank Shilling’s UNR auction this year, so the actual number of TLDs GoDaddy is acquiring is 27.)

Today, MMX reported that ICANN has fully approved the transfer of four of the strings and has given conditional approval for 18 others. The announcement also says, “All other conditions precedent for the transfer of these TLDs have been completed,” which suggests China has agreed to transfer licenses for the domains.

MMX said it’s still waiting on ICANN approval on the remaining five, as well as formal consents from partners for those domains.
