How to make a WordPress website for beginners. Having a social media account in this day and age might not be enough. There are a lot of reasons to have a website and these range from having an extended personal platform to actually having a business website or a website that is an extension of your business.

There are a few things you might need when you are building a website.

What do you need to build a website:

1. Domain name – this would be the name of your website like “techtimes.com”

2. WordPress hosting – this is basically where the website will be stored

3. Time – making a website might not take too long but it still takes a couple of hours depending on what you want to achieve.

Without further ado, here’s how to create a WordPress website.

Step 1: Setup your website

Go to WordPress and download it for you to build a website on the self-hosted platform.

Step 2: Install WordPress

Follow the installation process until you can run WordPess on your device.

Step 3: Enter your domain

This is where you type in your domain. If you aren’t going for premium, most likely, your domain name will still have a “.wordpress.com” in it. However, this can still be changed. Try to look for a domain with no identical names but isn’t too hard to read. You might want to avail some security features in for your domain.

Finding the perfect domain can be quite difficult.

Try going over to GoDaddy.com and test to see if the domain is taken or not. If you want a professional domain, you might have to buy the domain as well.

Step 3: Select your theme

This is generally how the website looks. Although you can modify the website manually through code, it is better to use a pre-built theme that is much easier to navigate and use.

Step 4: Upload content

This is where the website owner will finally upload their content. These include posts, pages, blogs, videos, and other content you might want to find on your page.

It is important to separate pages from posts. Pages are parts of the site. Posts are things that you add every once in a while like a new article. The pages can be the categories.

Step 5: Customization

This is where you might want to watch a few YouTube videos and really get into the customizing process. This is where you can get creative and make your website function the way you might want it to function.

A post by WP Beginner shows a few possible ways you can customize your website. Of course, this completely depends on the website owner as to how far they want to go. Themes themselves are already complete but for site owners that really want the site to stand out, additional customization might be required in order to make this happen.
