There are a lot of reasons to have a website and these range from having an extended personal platform to actually having a business website or a website that is an extension of your business.
There are a few things you might need when you are building a website.
What do you need to build a website:
1. Domain name – this would be the name of your website like “techtimes.com”
2. WordPress hosting – this is basically where the website will be stored
3. Time – making a website might not take too long but it still takes a couple of hours depending on what you want to achieve.
Without further ado, here’s how to create a WordPress website.
Step 1: Setup your website
Go to WordPress and download it for you to build a website on the self-hosted platform.
Step 2: Install WordPress
Follow the installation process until you can run WordPess on your device.
Step 3: Enter your domain
This is where you type in your domain. If you aren’t going for premium, most likely, your domain name will still have a “.wordpress.com” in it. However, this can still be changed. Finding the perfect domain can be quite difficult.
Try going over to GoDaddy.com and test to see if the domain is taken or not. If you want a professional domain, you might have to buy the domain as well.
Step 3: Select your theme
This is generally how the website looks. Although you can modify the website manually through code, it is better to use a pre-built theme that is much easier to navigate and use.
Step 4: Upload content
This is where the website owner will finally upload their content. These include posts, pages, blogs, videos, and other content you might want to find on your page.
It is important to separate pages from posts. Pages are parts of the site. Posts are things that you add every once in a while like a new article. The pages can be the categories.
