By Lauren Berg (December 14, 2021, 6:19 PM EST) — Two website domains are using Debevoise & Plimpton LLP’s name and imitating its attorneys to peddle phishing emails and try to steal people’s sensitive personal information, according to a lawsuit filed Monday in Virginia federal court.
Information about the owner behind the domains — debevoise-law.com and debevoise-laws.com — is hidden behind a privacy service based in Iceland, but Debevoise said the websites rip off its trademarks to trick people into thinking they are receiving emails from real attorneys.
