lookmovie and Cuevana3two of the biggest sites that illegally stream movies and TV shows, have seen their “.io” domain names suspended in recent days.
According to Torrent Freak, the suspensions are probably due to copyright infringements. However, both pirate streaming sites are back up and running and can be found on other domains.
All this takes place in a scenario in which pirate streaming sites have been very popular compared to torrent or direct download sites, so it is not surprising that Hollywood has its closure as a priority. Organizations like the MPA and the ACE are trying to find out who is behind these illegal streams through inquiries with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).
While it is not known why the .io domain sites were discontinued, the registration system was purchased by Afilias a few years ago, which was acquired by Donuts not long after. The MPA has a “trusted reporter” agreement with the latter, allowing the Hollywood group to report pirate sites, whose domains can then be suspended.
Although Lookmovie lost its dominance, he quickly moved on to lookmovie2.to and took the opportunity to explain what happened as well as announcing a new design.
For his part, Cuevana, which has been the focus of copyright whistleblowers in the past, also moved to a new location. In fact, on their new portal, they made a statement thanking their users for their support in transferring to a .me domain.
