Alexa.com when visiting it as an end-user (consumer) probably isn’t what you expect to find, yes the domain name Alexa is owned by the Internet Giant Amazon.com, however, what you see when you land on Alexa.com is actually a part of Amazon called Alexa Internet Inc which is an American web traffic analysis company based in San Francisco. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Amazon.

Alexa was founded as an independent company in 1996 and acquired by Amazon in 1999 for $250 million in stock.
