Adidas AG and its Reebok International Ltd. unit are suing hundreds of businesses and individuals in a Florida federal court for allegedly selling counterfeit products bearing their marks.
Adidas and Reebok named hundreds of individuals, partnerships, and unincorporated associations for allegedly promoting and selling knock-off goods while using the brands’ trademarks.
The defendants, listed by domain names including adidassuperstar.com and cheapsnearkspro.com, are infringing their trademarks, the complaint said.
Naming multiple defendants in counterfeiting suits is a common strategy for trademark owners, particularly when handling large-scale cybersquatting, said Eric Perrott, a trademark and copyright attorney at Gerben Perrott PLLC.
