K&L Gates Names Nearly 40 New Partners, Of Counsel, and Government Affairs Advisors Across Firm | News & Events

The partners of global law firm K&L Gates LLP have voted to elect the following individuals from across the firm’s global platform as new partners, of counsel, and government affairs advisors with the firm, effective this week. The group comprises 38 individuals from all nine of the firm’s practice areas and representing 20 offices, including Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Frankfurt, London, Melbourne, Miami, Milan, Munich, Nashville, New York, Newark, Pittsburgh, Portland, Raleigh, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington, D.C.

Anna Amprimo (Milan) focuses her practice in the real estate sector, including advising on investment construction matters and real estate funds in the energy and housing sectors, among others, as well as assisting investors and developers — both international and local — on real estate projects.

Michael Anderson (London) advises both lenders and borrowers on a full-spectrum of banking and finance matters, including corporate lending, real estate finance, fund finance, and structured finance.

Travis Brannon (Pittsburgh) concentrates his energy practice on commercial matters with an emphasis on energy litigation. This includes business and royalty disputes, class actions, and project development, in addition to counseling energy clients on legislative and regulatory developments at both the state and federal level.

Jay Buchman (New York) advises clients on the tax aspects of a broad range of domestic and international transactions, including private investment funds on matters related to fund formation and operation, domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, financings, and joint ventures.

Travis Campbell (Austin) advises emerging, mid-sized, and global Fortune 500 companies in a variety of transactions involving intellectual property (IP), technology, and/or data privacy issues, in addition to regularly counseling clients regarding domestic and international data privacy regulations and on issues relating to IP clearance, protection, and enforcement.

David Catuogno (Newark) is a member of the firm’s restructuring and insolvency practice group and focuses his practice on the representation of creditors, particularly institutional lenders and franchisors. He also represents financial institutions and lenders in Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings as well as in state court proceedings and pre-litigation work-outs.

Gabriela Da Costa (London) advises product manufacturers across a range of sectors on complex competition law questions relating to the sale of their products in Europe, including involvement in some of the most significant cases against or involving unauthorized resellers in Europe and the defense of major brand owners in challenges by the European competition authorities and third parties.

Tariq Fedda (Washington, D.C.) advises on the structuring, development, documentation, and financing of international infrastructure projects, with particular experience in the LNG, hydrogen, and power industries. He regularly counsels on cross-border transactions involving multiple jurisdictions.

Kerstin Hanke (Frankfurt) focuses on private equity/M&A transactions and also advises clients in corporate reorganizations and general corporate and partnership law. As a civil law notary, she deals in particular with corporate and real estate matters.

Jason Haycock (San Francisco) concentrates his complex litigation practice on matters including copyright and patent infringement, environmental contamination, and all manner of commercial disputes. He has experience in all phases of litigation, and has litigated in both federal and state courts.

Shawn Hogue (Miami) is a litigator who represents clients, including companies that specialize in technology, food, entertainment, retail, and transportation, with regulatory compliance, risk management, and employment practices. This includes litigating and defending the various aspects of the Americans with Disabilities Act and assisting on compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act.

Tucker Idol (Raleigh) focuses his practice on domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, equity finance transactions, and general corporate matters. He represents strategic and financial buyers and sellers on complex exits, both emerging companies and venture capital firms in growth financings, and institutional and private equity investors on controlling interest and minority investments.

Ravi Jayemanne (Melbourne) advises clients on a wide range of funds management, superannuation, and commercial matters. This includes regularly advising large public offer funds, non-public offer funds, and public sector funds on their investment activities, governance arrangements, material contracts, products, and regulatory environment.

Alexander Kaplan (Washington, D.C.) represents real estate clients across an array of transactions, including acquisitions, dispositions, financings, leases, ground leases, and joint ventures. He has particular experience representing cross-border investors acquiring interests in trophy office and retail properties, as well as acquirers, developers, and tenants of sports stadium and arena facilities.

Daniel Kelly-Stallings (Seattle) practices in the areas of environmental law and commercial litigation, with a focus on the timber products industry, cleanup of contaminated sites, the Endangered Species Act, and railroad issues. His practice includes matters involving energy and infrastructure, environmental permitting and regulatory advice, water rights, forest practices, agriculture, and wildlife management.

Manuela Krach (London) concentrates her practice on aviation finance matters, regularly advising clients on complex cross-border and multi-jurisdictional aviation transactions and deals with airlines, lessors, financiers, and manufacturers.

Stefanie Lacy (Pittsburgh) focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, class action defense, and the defense and investigations of, and compliance with, government enforcement actions. Her broad commercial litigation experience includes work managing, leading, and coordinating complex E-discovery matters and conducting opening argument and direct and cross examination before juries.

Kari Larson (Seattle) concentrates her commercial real estate practice largely on the acquisition, disposition, leasing, financing, and development of commercial, timber, and agricultural holdings. She regularly represents both borrowers and lenders, foreign and domestic, in transactions secured by commercial and agricultural properties, with a focus on intercreditor and co-lender arrangements.

Nicholas Lenning (Seattle) is a patent litigator with experience guiding complex cases from initial pleadings through trial and appeal. He represents clients involving a large range of complex technologies, including media application software, semiconductor devices and other electronic circuitry, data storage technology, chemical and pharmaceutical processes, and mechanical devices.

William Liu (Dallas) focuses his practice in capital markets, loan financings, and restructurings, advising corporate trustees, facility agents, and collateral agents in the U.S. and the UK on cross-border financing transactions.

Terrence McKelvey (Nashville) is a member of the firm’s complex commercial litigation and disputes practice group. He has advised clients on a variety of matters in federal and state courts and in arbitration, including cases involving contractual disputes, intra-corporate disputes, interference with business relationships, and unfair competition claims.

Jeffrey Orenstein (Washington, D.C.) counsels clients on international trade and transportation matters involving such areas as U.S. sanctions, export controls, customs, maritime, and railroad regulation. This includes advising on trade-related compliance and regulation, investigations, due diligence, and training programs, as well as providing representation in enforcement actions.

Nadja Raiß (Frankfurt and Munich) is a member of K&L Gates’ restructuring and insolvency practice group. She advises companies on the preparation, initiation, and implementation of insolvency proceedings, and also acts as an insolvency administrator.

As a member of the firm’s labor, employment, and workplace safety practice group, Adriana Reyes (Austin) focuses her practice on advising companies and foreign nationals on corporate and investment-based immigration matters.

Erinn Rigney (Chicago) advises clients on a variety of employment matters, including compliance with antidiscrimination laws, fair labor standards, and state wage and hours laws; the provision of reasonable accommodations; and the implementation of workplace policies and employee handbooks, in addition to developing and leading anti-harassment training sessions for clients’ workforces.

Benjamin Rubinstein (Newark) focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation matters, with significant experience in real estate litigation as well as disputes relating to financial services, healthcare, insurance coverage, and environmental issues. He also assists clients in real estate transaction negotiations across a diverse array of industries.

Robert Salame (New York) concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate- and real estate-related transactions, including financings, development, and cross-border investment. This includes the representation of individual and corporate clients in a wide range of business-related matters, as well as the acquisition, disposition, and financing of a variety of property types.

Anna Shabalov (Pittsburgh) concentrates her practice on intellectual property litigation, including patent, trademark and copyright infringement, unfair competition, false advertising, and trade secret misappropriation. She also counsels clients on licensing, non-competition agreements, copyright registration, and trademark clearance, registration, maintenance, and prosecution issues.

Jonathan Shallow (Seattle) focuses his practice on corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, financings, joint ventures, commercial contracts, and divestitures. He also regularly advises clients across a wide variety of industries on general corporate, business formation, corporate governance, and compliance matters.

Aaron Taishoff (New York) focuses his practice on the various aspects of real estate and corporate transactions, including acquisitions; dispositions; acquisition, construction, and mezzanine financing; retail, industrial, and office leasing; private investment funds; business formation; and corporate governance.

Andrea Templeton (Seattle) is a corporate lawyer focusing on tax-exempt organizations and tax. Her practice includes corporate and tax advice regarding governance, fiduciary duties, conflict of interest issues, contracting, and dissolution, as well as tax considerations related to mergers and acquisitions, commuter benefit plans, and other federal and state tax issues.

Elizabeth Thomsen (Raleigh) focuses her practice on commercial and corporate transactions involving complex intellectual property, technology, and data issues. She works with clients across a broad variety of industries on matters involving strategic asset development, production, licensing, distribution, and protection, as well as the formation and operation of joint ventures and strategic alliances.

William Waldman (Newark) represents financial institutions in bankruptcy, workouts, foreclosures, enforcement of security agreements, real estate transactions, and many aspects of commercial litigation. He also has vast experience in transactional matters, including with settlement, real estate, and asset purchase agreements, as well as a variety of other business contracts.

Simone Wernicke (Frankfurt) has vast experience in the areas of collective and individual labor law, including the interface between insolvency labor law and employment law. She focuses on the design and comprehensive support of labor law restructuring measures and the resulting transactions.

Elizabeth White (Portland) focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on appellate litigation, securities, antitrust, and intellectual property disputes. She assists in defending clients in class action shareholder and shareholder derivative litigation, as well as antitrust actions.

Coleman Wombwell (Charlotte) maintains a practice covering a wide variety of general corporate and securities matters. This includes advising publicly-traded companies regarding reporting, corporate governance practices, and on compliance issues, as well as assisting on securities offerings and on mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate restructurings.

She assists with the management of global trademark portfolios and enforcement programs as well as branding strategies for clients and a wide range of other trademark law areas.

Government affairs advisor: Sean McGlynn (Washington, D.C.) advises a broad range of clients on federal funding, policy, and government contract issues in the Congressional budget and appropriations process, with a focus on national security, defense, and emerging technology issues. He advises a number of clients in the commercial spaceflight and national security space launch industries, and is also active on cybersecurity and information technology policy issues.
