Keep your eyes peeled for domain discounts through Monday.
I received my first pitch for Black Friday from a domain registrar today.
I’ve always found Black Friday specials at domain registrars and hosting companies to be a bit odd. Do people really wait until a sale to purchase their webhosting package or SSL certificate? And I doubt that the typical end user waits until the day after Thanksgiving to register a domain for their business to save a few bucks.
For domain investors, however, Black Friday and Cyber Monday can be great days to pick up new hand registrations. While you can always find steep discounts and promos on new top level domains, many registrars offer specials for legacy top level domains such as .com during this holiday shopping period.
Case in point: Namecheap is offering new .com registrations for $5.98 with a limit of 5. The sale runs from now through Cyber Monday.
