Malta Gaming Authority cancels Smart Operations’ license

T

he Malta Gaming Authority announced on Monday that it has decided to cancel the authorization awarded to Smart Operations Limited effective as of May 31, 2021, in terms of specific regulations of the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations.

Smart Operations is no longer authorized to carry out any gaming operations, register new players, or accept new customer deposits, but is required to retain and provide all registered players with access to their player accounts and to refund all funds standing to the credit of players in line with the applicable law.

According to MGA, this sanction is being imposed because Smart operations breached specific terms of the Gaming Compliance and Enforcement Regulations.

“The Authorised Person has failed to discharge financial commitments for its operations, and has failed to pay in a timely manner all amounts due to the authority pertaining to the license numbered MGA/B2C/233/2016”, the MGA quoted from the breach regulations.

Smart Operations was licensed to offer both casino games and fixed-odds betting, but its licence did not list any domain names.
